Too bad he can't vote

Lucas is a big Obama fan. He always comments when he sees him on TV or hears someone say his name. He even recognizes his voice. And to further prove that he's up on his politics is this story:

We were waiting at the Meijer pharmacy counter to drop off Alyssa's prescription for the extra Amoxicillin (there's a story in itself). There were a few people in line in front of us, so he and I were talking about the baby in line and some of the other things we could see around us. Facing the counter was a long shelf of OTC medicine and things like hearing aid batteries. Lucas was facing that way and all of sudden he says, "'Bama!" and pointed. I turned around to see a rack of half a dozen health-type magazines and one of them was this one:

I was so surprised! Honestly, I might have walked right past that stand and not noticed who was on the cover. Now if only they would let 2 years olds vote! As long as Elmo wasn't running...

This should do it

I've been an Obama supporter for a long time now. At first I just wanted anyone who didn't have a close connection to that idiot W, but as the campaign went along, I became more and more impressed with Obama.

But Jeff was a different story. He was undecided. He changed his mind every other day. After the final debate though, he told me he had finally made up his mind and I was happy, both in the decision that he made and that he had finally made it.

Then yesterday, I just happened to turn on the TV and it just happened to be on Meet the Press and it just so happened that Colin Powell was sitting there talking to Tom Brokaw. Brokaw asked him if he was going to endorse one of the canidates for president. Powell said he would, but he wanted to explain his thought process first. I was intrigued because I respect Colin Powell a great deal. I've often wished HE would run for president. So I watched the interview and I was very impressed with all his reasonings and I completely agree with him. I immediately ran down to tell Jeff what he had said. I know he respects Powell as well and I think his statements made him feel even better about his choice.

It really is a wonderful, well thought out opinion:

A blast from the past

The other day Alyssa found one of her old toys in the basement and was playing with it with Lucas. It happened to be a Teletubbies doll that said a few different phrases when you hugged it (or stomped on its stomach). So that got me reminiscing about how she loved the Teletubbies when she was little. I was trying to remember all their names and the goofy songs and everything, so Jeff and I started searching for videos on YouTube. We found some really great ones!

Too bad I couldn't find any in German, which is how she used to watch them. I'm not sure they were ever really speaking English though...

Alyssa was amazed at how weird and creepy they were. We had some good laughs at the Teletubbies' expense. But Lucas was completely mesmerized! Those things are like crack for toddlers! I was barely able to write this post because he keeps begging me to play the videos for him.
