Be careful what you wish for

Lucas continues to sleep poorly. At night he wakes over and over and over. He spends much of the night in our bed, which I do not enjoy. During the day, his naps are much too short, averaging a pathetic 30 minutes or so. He wakes up cranky and is a grouch until we can get him to take another too-short nap.

Anyway, this morning he ate a huge breakfast of rice cereal and applesauce. He still seemed hungry after that, so I gave some prunes which he loves. A short time later he was sleepy, so I nursed him a little and put him down for a nap. He fought it a bit, but finally fell asleep.

The kids and I watched Cars and eventually Jeff took a break from his homework to watch with us. A half hour went by, then an hour and Lucas was still sleeping! As we were approaching an hour and a half, he woke up and started crying. Wow, what a great nap! Jeff went to get him.

He was gone a long time and finally came back with a naked baby. Poor little Lucas had made a big pukey mess in his bed. I went in to get some new clothes for him and survey the damage. Ick! Jeff was going to change the bed after the movie was done. When he was dressed again, he put Lucas in the exersaucer. He was playing with his toys, bouncing away and having a great time. Brendan went over to play with him and BLEH - a fountain of puke came out of his mouth and got Brendan's hand. Jeff changed Lucas again, cleaned up a little and I washed Brendan's hands. Then Lucas was on the floor and he did it again, but not so much that it couldn't be wiped up. Finally we settled down to watch the rest of the movie, Jeff sitting on the floor with Lucas sitting between his legs. Once again - a puddle on the blanket they were sitting on.

So I guess that's the price for a good nap - massive amounts of spew. If we're lucky this is just a result of too much breakfast and not a nasty tummy bug.
